Reflections 2021-2022

Each year over 300,000 students in pre-k through grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. this 50+ year-old program helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. the six categories are: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
The student-selected theme for the 2021-2022 Reflections program is I WILL CHANGE THE WORLD BY…

The arts can have a profound impact on the social emotional learning and health of our students? We encourage ALL Jaguars to participate in the 2021-2022 virtual Reflections program by creating original works of art in response to the student-selected theme:

This year, because of COVID-19, we’re going VIRTUAL and it couldn’t be a better time to participate in the arts!
Students of all grades and abilities are invited to participate and submit their entries by Friday, December 17, 2021. Here’s how:
1. CREATE original works of art in one or all of the following categories using the official rules and guidelines under the different arts categories and grade-level divisions. Students may enter up to one submission in each of the arts categories below:
  • Dance Choreography (rules)
  • Film Production (rules)
  • Literature (rules)
  • Music Composition (rules)
  • Photography (rules)
  • Visual Arts (rules)
  • Special Artist - All Disciplines (rules) – For students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504
  1. Save and upload a file of the student artwork (photos of the Visual Arts pieces will be accepted this year) to the Google Drive under the appropriate category with the following title:
Student First and Last Name_Grade_Arts Category_Title of Work
    e.g. Amy Smith_Grade 3_Dance Choreography_World Peace

*All pieces must be uploaded to the Google Drive by Friday, December 17, 2021 with a complete Student Entry Form to be considered*
  3. Stay tuned! Students will be judged in three areas: interpretation of the theme (I Will Change The World By…), originality and technique. Awards will be announced by the end of December. Students who are awarded top honors will advance to the county level and then have the chance to advance to the state and national levels for awards and prizes. All students who enter will be celebrated and their art shared with the school and community.
**Please save all original submissions as physical pieces may be requested.
We hope all students will participate and make our first year of Reflections at Jones Lane amazing!
