JagFest is right around the corner and we are in need of both student and parent volunteers to help ensure the night is a success and memorable for our kids as they celebrate completion of their school year. Please take a moment to review the Sign-up Genius link for volunteer opportunities (SSL hours are available for students!) and SHARE this with others you know who may be willing to help out.
If you have any questions or concerns about volunteering, contact Nicole Boston at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for helping to make this a great event!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK THANK YOU
Thank you SO much to all the families that donated food items, gift cards or time this past week. It was a great week!! The meals and small gestures were a huge hit amongst the staff. We also want to thank the families that participated in the individual theme days this week. The teachers were overwhelmed with all the kindness their students showed. Thank you so much for stepping up and making this a great week for our staff!
ONE BOARD POSITION STILL VACANT—PLEASE HELP!
We are still looking for people to fill the Vice President PTA Board Position. We have volunteers for all of our board positions except the VP. Please nominate a friend or raise your own hand by emailing Jen Legge at email@example.com. If anyone is considering a job, call Jen at 301-233-3861 for more information. It's not as scary as you're imagining! Stacy does an amazing job, but she does SOOO much more than the VP position requires!! The job description is below.
Vice President - Presides at monthly PTA meetings if Jen isn't available (Jen didn't miss at all this year, and hopes to keep that record going), serves as an aide to the President (more true in year 2, when the President is new and the VP has experience), oversees all committee related programs and events (but if we don't have chairs, we don't have events - you are NOT responsible for making things happen), and manages the PTA calendar (typically set over the summer and not varying much after that) and marquee updates (easy-peasy).
PANDA PROGRAMMER - AFTER SCHOOL AT JLES
One last time to expose your child to the fun world of computer coding with Panda Programmer before the school year ends. Panda Programmer offers six week session of computer coding on Thursday afternoons at Jones Lane Elementary School. Classes are held from 3:25 pm to 5:25 pm. Sign up soon. Space is available in current session that runs until May 23rd and a short session will be held from May 30rd through June 13th.
COMMITTEE POSITIONS FOR 2019-2020
Some committee positions are opening up because we have families matriculating out of Jones Lane. If you are interested in helping with a committee but aren't sure what might be good for you, please feel free to email Stacy at VicePresident.JLESPTA@gmail.com.
We are anxious to fill our Membership Coordinator position soon so they can get familiar with the A to Z platform and help set up a few emails to go out over the summer to initiate membership renewals. Interested? This is a good position for someone who wants to contribute but prefers to work from home. Stay tuned for a full list of open positions in upcoming communications.
