PTA MEETING - OCTOBER 1ST
The first PTA meeting of the year will be held October 1st at 7:30 PM in the APR (Cafeteria). We will discuss and vote on the budget (see file below) and elect our 1st VP. The draft budget is attached for your review. I’m also looking for a volunteer to take minutes during this meeting. Please reply to this email if you’d like to add other items to the agenda or to volunteer to take the minutes.
BLIZZARD WARNING! THE “ARCTIC ADVENTURE” BOOK FAIR IS COMING TO JLES!
The JLES Book Fair is just 2 weeks away, and will run from October 10 - October 16 in the Media Center. All classes will visit the Fair twice, to preview and then to purchase books. Family Night is Friday, October 11 from 5-7:30 p.m. and Wake Up with Books is Monday, October 14 from 8:45-9:30 a.m., for grown-ups to shop before the JLES Open House. Look for flyers coming home this week for details on these events and all things Fair-related!

AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES: YOGA FOR KIDS
Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct 1, Oct 8, Oct 15, Oct 22, Oct 29, Nov 5, Nov 19
Cost: $130/7-week session

Class description: In this playful yoga class, children will learn yoga poses, breathing, and relaxation exercises which cultivate a calm mind, increase strength and flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve concentration, and give children the tools to manage stress in their daily lives. Games, stories, and music will be incorporated into this fun, non-competitive class. Each class ends with a period of relaxation and aromatherapy.
Thanks to everyone who came to the first Spirit Night of the year at Cold Stone. The event made $180 for the PTA!! Mark your calendars for the next Spirit Night - Tuesday, October 22 at Moby Dick House of Kabob in Kentlands.
